Muntins—also known as French profiles or glazing bars—are a distinctive design element that divides a window or door into smaller visual sections, adding rhythm, proportion, and architectural character to the façade.
Originally used for structural reasons, modern muntins are now primarily decorative and can be seamlessly integrated into high-performance windows without compromising soundproofing, thermal insulation, or security. Depending on the desired aesthetic, muntins can enhance traditional, colonial, heritage, or modern-classic architecture, while also serving as a subtle design accent in contemporary homes.
